Mónica is the Strategy, Sustainability and Legal Director at GeoPark. Mónica specialises in corporate and international law in Canada and Colombia, and has extensive experience in corporate governance, as well as international commercial and investment arbitration. After living in Canada and working for a law firm for more than 15 years, Mónica became Vice President of Corporate Affairs and General Secretary at Ecopetrol. She leads the sustainability, social, environmental and corporate governance teams for GeoPark operations in Latin America. Mónica has an undergraduate degree in Law from Universidad de Los Andes, a postgraduate in Law from Universidad Externado de Colombia, and a Master’s in Development Studies from the London School of Economics (LSE). For six years she was a member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration. She has been a director on several boards and is currently on the Board of Directors of Cencosud S.A., Grupo Bolivar S.A. and the Empresarios por la Educación Foundation (ExE). Mónica has been acknowledged as one of Colombia’s leading in-house lawyers by The Legal 500 GC Powerlist.
