To promote dialogue, citizen participation and greater access to information on the company’s operational, social, environmental and contracting performance in the first half of 2024, GeoPark held ‘Meetings for Transparency’ in Tauramena and Villanueva in Casanare department on July 30 and 31, respectively.

These meetings share information about GeoPark’s activities in Casanare and address participants’ questions and concerns. Over 130 people, including businesspeople and representatives of local authorities, institutions, media and communities, attended the Meetings for Transparency, which are part of GeoPark’s dialogue mechanisms.

GeoPark also provided information in the meetings about the process for procuring goods and services, about how to use the ethics hotline to raise issues, and about local hiring through Colombia’s Public Employment Service. The company’s Cuéntame grievance mechanism had a help desk at the meetings to receive and resolve matters raised.

“The meeting is wonderful because there are concerns that are resolved before it ends, in a participatory environment that allows commitments to be made,” said Oscar Flechas, who attended the Tauramena meeting in representation of local company Tierradentro Landinez de Colombia Tierracoll SAS.

“We have a commitment to dialogue, and we sincerely believe that citizen participation is vital to consolidate a relationship of good neighborliness in Casanare,” GeoPark Nature and Neighbors Manager Anibal Fernandez de Soto said. “It is very gratifying to develop these spaces where we can present information about our operations and socio-environmental management, but, above all, to listen to and address our neighbors’ concerns. Thank you to all the participants for their attendance and interest in these spaces,” he added.

GeoPark thanks everyone who took part in the meetings and underscores its commitment to continue promoting this type of opportunity that makes working together possible. Complete recordings of the ‘Meetings for Transparency’ are available on the company’s YouTube channel:

Meetings for Transparency are complementary to other GeoPark mechanisms to uphold good neighbor relations in Casanare, which are always based on open and transparent dialogue.
