GeoPark Renews its Human Rights Policy

GeoPark, a leading independent energy company with more than 20 years of successful operations across Latin America, has renewed its Human Rights Policy, underscoring its commitment to the respect and promotion of human rights.

The Company’s Board of Directors has approved the revised policy, which aligns with the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights upon which GeoPark bases its actions and commitment to upholding the human rights of all stakeholders it interacts with, including business partners and the value chain.

Since it was founded, GeoPark has acted in accordance with the commitments established in its SPEED Integrated Value System[1], and the Policy clearly specifies the principles that guide the promotion and guarantee of respect for human rights in each of its operations.

Marcela Vaca, Chair of the SPEED/Sustainability board committee, said: “This update demonstrates our commitment to the continuous review and improvement of our human rights standards, explicitly setting out the behaviors we expect from employees and business partners in all areas of our business. We firmly believe that only through genuine respect for every person can we meet our objectives and generate real value for our stakeholders.”

To ensure effective compliance with the commitments in the Human Rights Policy, GeoPark has a robust due diligence process that allows it to identify actual and potential human rights risks, on which it defines and implements concrete measures for their prevention, mitigation or remediation.

GeoPark promotes continuous dialogue with its employees, neighboring communities, and other stakeholders. The ‘Cuéntame’ offices in the urban areas of the municipalities where the Company operates are examples of this and offer stakeholders the opportunity to share their opinions and resolve their concerns in relation to Company activities.
